Travel with Rolando and Adventures with Bella

There are places you drive through, and then there are places that stay with you forever. Monument Valley is absolutely the latter. On my recent adventure with Bella, we rolled into this legendary landscape of towering red buttes, endless horizons, and desert skies painted with colors you don’t see anywhere else on Earth. It felt like stepping straight into a classic Western film—only better, because it was real, and I was driving through it in my RV with my favorite co-pilot at my side.

πŸš— The Drive Through Monument Valley

The moment those iconic sandstone monoliths rise out of the earth, you can’t help but gasp. The open road, lined with massive rock formations sculpted by millions of years of wind and time, made the drive feel almost spiritual. Every mile revealed a new angle, a new shadow, a new “pull over and take a picture” moment. Bella sat up tall the entire time, ears perked, as if she understood we were witnessing something truly extraordinary.

πŸ•️ Staying at the Monument Valley KOA

Our home base for the night was the Monument Valley KOA, and honestly… what a perfect choice. Set against a backdrop of colossal sandstone spires, the campground offered some of the most jaw-dropping views I’ve ever experienced from an RV site. And then came the real show.

πŸŒ… Sunrises That Stir the Soul

In Monument Valley, sunrise isn’t just a moment—it’s an event. I stepped outside with my coffee just as the horizon blushed with soft pinks and golds. Slowly, the valley awakened, each butte catching the early light like glowing pillars rising from another world. Bella trotted beside me, tail swishing in the gentle desert breeze, as if she too felt the magic in the air.

Watching the sun climb over Monument Valley is like watching the Earth take a deep breath.

πŸŒ‡ Sunsets That Stop You in Your Tracks

Just when I thought the morning couldn’t be topped, the sunset proved me wrong. The sky erupted into fiery reds, oranges, purples, and deep, cinematic blues. The silhouettes of the Mittens stood sharp and powerful against the glowing sky. It was one of those moments where you simply stop talking, stop rushing, stop thinking—and just exist.

The KOA’s position gave us uninterrupted, panoramic views that felt like a private showing of nature’s greatest masterpiece.

✨ A Place You’ll Never Forget

From the serene drive through towering monuments to the unforgettable sunrises and sunsets that bookended my stay, Monument Valley became one of my favorite stops on this journey. It’s a place of beauty, history, and spirit—a place that reminds you how big the world is and how lucky you are to explore it.

Whether you're an RV traveler, photographer, writer, nature lover, or simply someone in need of inspiration, Monument Valley will speak to you in its own ancient, powerful language.

And trust me—once you’ve watched the sun rise and set over those red stone giants, you’ll carry the memory with you for the rest of your life.
