One step off the edge…and I just went flying. Literally. You’re not going to believe this.

TRAVEL WITH ROLANDO
The Canyons Zip Line and Adventure Park
At 63… and I just went flying. Literally. You’re not going to believe this.

At 63, I found myself standing on a wooden platform, harness strapped tight, staring out over a massive canyon, wondering how in the world I got talked into this. Then came that familiar voice in my head: “You’ve come this far… you’re doing it.”

There are moments in life that remind you you’re still very much alive
—and for me, this was one of them.

And just like that… I stepped off.

The Thrill of Letting Go

The first zip starts gently—what they call the “bunny zips.” It’s almost like the universe easing you in, giving you a moment to breathe, to trust the gear, the guides, and yourself.

But that calm doesn’t last long.

Before you know it, you’re soaring higher, faster, and farther than you ever imagined. The wind rushes past your face, the canyon opens beneath you, and suddenly you’re flying across something truly spectacular—Lost Spring Lake shimmering below, cliffs rising all around you.

There is no feeling quite like it.

The Experience: Big Cliff Canyon Tour

I did the Big Cliff Canyon Tour at The Canyons Zip Line and Adventure Park, and it’s not just a zip line—it’s a full-on adventure.

This tour includes: 9 zip lines (and they just keep getting better)
2 rope bridges that test your balance and nerve
A rappel at the end—yes, you climb down like an action movie finale

You start low and slow, but by the time you’re halfway through, you’re flying at heights over 130 feet and gliding across lines as long as 1,100 feet. Each run builds your confidence, and with every step, you feel a little more fearless.

And let me tell you—the guides? Absolutely incredible. Professional, reassuring, and genuinely fun. They make the entire experience feel safe, exciting, and unforgettable from start to finish.
More Than Just an Adventure

What surprised me most wasn’t just the thrill—it was how it made me feel.

There’s something powerful about doing something that scares you a little. Something that reminds you that life isn’t behind you—it’s still unfolding, still offering moments that take your breath away.

At 63, I didn’t feel “too old.” I felt unstoppable.

__________

What to Expect

If you’re considering it, here’s what you should know:Plan for about 2.5 to 3 hours
It’s popular—seating is limited, so book ahead
You’ll get a full introduction and practice zip before anything serious starts (so no stress!)

By the end of it, standing on that last platform before the rappel, I had one clear thought:

I want to do this again.

__________

Final Thought

If you’ve ever caught yourself saying, “Maybe I’m too old for that…” —
I’m here to tell you, you’re not. Not even close.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one step off the edge…
to remember just how incredible it feels to fly.
