If my camera could talk, it would probably be asking for a vacation after my journey through Michigan's Upper Peninsula!
What started as a drive through the U.P. quickly turned into one photo stop after another. I stood in awe at Tahquamenon Upper Falls, watching thousands of gallons of root beer-colored water thunder over the edge while trying to convince myself that I had already taken "enough" photos. Spoiler alert: I had not.
From there, I stepped back in time at Colonial Michilimackinac, wandered around historic lighthouses, and found myself repeatedly pulling over to admire the mighty Mackinac Bridge. Somewhere along the way, I also discovered Ocqueoc Falls, where even an easy stroll rewarded me with beautiful scenes and more reasons to fill up my memory cards.
The real surprise was Michigan itself. Every time I thought I was headed to my next destination, another state park, scenic overlook, hidden shoreline, or forest road seemed to whisper, "Just one more stop, Rolando." As a photographer, I was powerless to resist. Bella, of course, patiently waited while I chased waterfalls, lighthouses, and sunsets, occasionally reminding me that dinner time was far more important than the perfect shot.
The Upper Peninsula isn't just a place you visit—it's a place that slows you down, invites you to explore, and rewards you with unforgettable moments around every bend in the road. My only regret? Not bringing more memory cards. Fortunately, the memories—and the photographs—will last a lifetime.
